Hard At Work on HARDWARE

I'm working hard to make some beautiful and interesting cuff bracelets. Love old brass keys and furniture hardware (and hunting for them). Always a different mix at every show I do.

Come see me May 26 at the Barns Art Market in the Artscape Wychwood Barns.
I'll be there in Studio #155 with lots to see and try on!

If you can't make it check out Made You Look and the Guildshop who just got fresh deliveries.

New Spring Stock

I saw my first bumblebee yesterday so I am sure Spring is here.
I'm working away in the studio trying to make what will be the best Mother's Day gifts!

Be sure to check in at Made You Look or the Guildshop
for some fresh new antique mother of pearl pieces!

Take a lovely spring walk and enjoy the flowers!

From Start to Finish!

Start

Finish

Here are the black diamond cufflinks I previously mentioned. I'm so in love I wish I had a french cuff shirt of my own so I could wear these once before sending them out into the world. I hope to show more pictures of the before and afters so you have an idea of what materials I work with to create my jewellery.

Happy Spring!

One of a kind!

I just wanted to share a recent commission I have finished for a special lady who is turning 65. She provided me with two slim gold bangles and asked me to add them to a reticulated cuff. It was quite a challenge but the results were well worth the blood, sweat and tears. When all was said and done I wanted to keep it for myself!

Happy 65th  S. !

For the Love of Pearls (and Mother of Pearl)

Of his bones are coral made;
Those are pearls that were his eyes:
Nothing of him doth fade
But doth suffer a sea change
Into something rich and strange.

Mother of pearl and pearls are said to heal wounds.
Particularly when turned to powder it was felt to improve
eyesight. Healers say that if you wear mother of pearl,
your confidence will be enhanced,
your ability to make decisions improved
and your creativity expanded.

On the walls of the Palazzo labia in Venice, Italy, Tiepolo depicts
Cleopatra dissolving a magnificent pearl in vinegar for
Marc Anthony to drink. Legend has it that swallowing
a pearl could be the path to immortality itself.

I think that they are too beautiful to consume,
but you should make them a part of you.

A Brand New Year

Here we are in 2012 and I'm busy making new stock and scouting materials.

Check out these carved buttons that are about to be reincarnated into cufflinks with black diamonds set in the holes. I hope to create some new designs this spring but time and buttons will tell. I really enjoy hunting for materials and trying to decide what the best use of the material would be.

As I'm sure most of you know I use only natural materials in my work and trying to use as much reclaimed material as possible.

Sometimes it does get a little tricky trying to meet the consumer demand. That is why I always encourage customers to bring me their old silver and buttons for a deep discount.

It helps me to keep the momentum in my artwork and the satisfaction that I have taken something discarded and made it useful and beautiful again.

Onward and upward 2012!
